Here’s a great video from Red Bull which celebrates the Red Bull Academy World Tour 2011. It showcases many different musical styles from around the world. The film mixes different animation techniques reflecting the cities the Music Academy is touring through, using a combination of 2D, 3D, stop-motion, photography, illustration, and CG.

Polar Ice Cubes

When I first saw this I thought what a good idea. I soon realised the idea was much deeper.
Japanese artist Atsuhiro Hayashi created this ‘Polar Ice’ to show the real life situation faced by many arctic animals as the polar ice caps melt. The silicon cups can be bought from Monos.

Undersea restaurant and now undersea bedroom

The World’s first undersea restaurant opened at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort on 14th April 2005 and sits 5m below the Indian Ocean. The 12 seater restaurant named ‘Ithaa’ meaning ‘pearl’ offers dinner for US $320 per person. The glass in the restaurant is 125mm thick and gives a 180° view of the sea around.
