The applications of QR Codes is rapidly growing. You may have seen these on TV, drinks cans, magazine ads or even on the side of buildings, but what are they? The two dimensional black and white code can be used by smart phones or QR scanners to reveal a message, a website, a telephone number, vcard or an email address. This makes it a perfect device for a call to action on an advert appealing to the tech-savvy user.
There are many free Apps available to read QR Codes. I use an App called QRReader on the iphone which is quick and easy to use, just as intended (QR is the abbreviation for Quick Response). The codes were invented by a subsidiary of Toyota in 1994 and have been popular in Japan for many years. Their success has now spread and we will be seeing a lot more of them – the back page of the Guernsey Press for starters!

I missed the one at B&Q, I guess you can get QR code wallpaper too! I would be interested in some demographics of people who understand and use them.
