The land of the giants

Pylons draping their power-lines across the landscape is not something we have to worry about in Guernsey, but if we did I’d want ours to look like these. Still at the conceptual stage I’m not sure they’ll ever get made – there must be a lot of structural and performance considerations – but I think someone should try.

The pylon-figures can be configured to respond to their environment with appropriate gestures. As the carried electrical lines ascend a hill, the pylon-figures change posture, imitating a climbing person. Over long spans, the pylon-figure stretches to gain increased height, crouches for increased strength or strains under the weight of the wires.

The idea is these giant figures will be created in Iceland, lets hope they’re lava proof.
