Multiuser sketchpad

Mr Doob has created a new browser based drawing experiment. This time you can collaborate with other visitors and create a masterpiece. Images spontaneously appear before your eyes, and partnerships are formed as you help other users with their creations. I helped user XXXL draw a face, they did the eyes and the nose and I aided by drawing the hair. There was no discussion, no planning, no permission, it just happened. It’s fun and feels nice, but be ready for someone scribbling over your pictures.

However this might not be on purpose as when you first visit the page it’s blank — whatever was drawn beforehand is not visible to you — you only see what has been draw live whilst on the site meaning whilst everyone is working at the same time on the same canvas no two people see exactly the same image, it’s a multidimensional experience! There are other fun moments when you make your browser window bigger and discover any entirely new part of the picture that wasn’t visible before, and maybe not everyone can even see this new area, their monitors might be too small. Give it a go (you need a modern web browser to use it though).

This is the finalised image after I finished drawing, and below shows how the image changes over time. Layers and built upon, but remember not all users see such depth if they visitors later in the drawing.

Whilst writing this blog the image below was draw, someone has a massive monitor.
