You may have heard about HTML5, it’s the next standard in which websites are going to be created. One of the most exciting new features is the canvas element which allows you to manipulate images, adding all sorts of effects.
Mr Doob’s Harmony demonstrates that it’s even possible to let uses draw pictures. I’ve always liked tools on computers that do more than just draw simple lines. Harmony is a great example and allows the creation of very complex, but beautifully organic images in seconds. When drawing with the various brushes your speed and proximity to existing lines changes what you’re drawing. You’ll need a modern web browser such as Firefox or Chrome to use it.
