Gary, Betley Whitehorne’s most experienced explorer, has recently returned from his latest adventure. This time he travelled back in time…

After discovering the amazing cave paintings above on a rock outside a mysterious cave Gary had to explore further. No one would would have guessed what he was to find in the deep, dark cave.
After clambering over the rocks for a good 5 minutes Gary heard a strange grunting sound. To his amazement there was a primitive, Neanderthal man living in the cave. His long hair and beard swayed as walked. He was obviously very cold so put Gary on his head for warmth.
After being carried deeper into the cave Gary saw a small tunnel of light. He hoped off the Neanderthals head and followed the light .
When he reached the exit he made a grizzly discovery. A dead sock lay before him. It looked like it had been ravaged. Poor, poor sock thought Gary. But he had little time to pay his respects as a ginormous dinosaur appeared from nowhere and snatched him up in it’s mouth. Was this to be the end of Gary? How could he survive?
Thankfully help was at hand. A small red and white figure came swinging through the trees, jumping into the mouths of the hungry dinosaurs and freeing their prey.
Gary was free and quickly seeked safely, he headed for a waterfall and began to climb, trying to escape the forest.

Higher and higher he climbed leaving the dinosaurs far behind. Soon he left the canopy of the forest and hiked up steep hills. Stopping for a rest at one of the most beautifully ‘designed’ natural waterfalls ever he saw the mysterious figure who’d saved him earlier.

Gary thanked him for his heroics and they got chatting. It turned out Roy, like Gary, was also an adventurer and that he came from the land of the Royal Bank of Canada.
They enjoyed the afternoon together, sharing stories and forming a close friendship.
Suddenly a big hand plucked up Roy and carried him away – they had let their guard drop whilst chatting. To make matters worse the hand belonged to another Neanderthal, and this one was a dangerous sub species known as a ‘Hoodie’!
Gary watched as Roy was taken away, his face a picture horror and fear. He needed to save him, to return the favour. Thankfully Hoodies are know to lack any peripheral vision and Gary was easily able to sneak up to him. Using International Sign Language he silently told Roy to get ready to jump. Gary then leapt at the Hoodie pushing him over the edge of a cliff. Roy jumped free and stood atop the cliff watching the Hoodie bounce off rocks below. The smile returned to his face.

Thanking Gary they set off together in search of civilisation. After many days of walking they thought they had found it when they came across a wooden hut, but it turned out they’d only got as far as Wales.
They both agreed the sign outside translated into ‘Here be dragons’ so Roy said to Gary, ‘Come on’ and they continued their hike home together.

Sounds quite an adventure to the Wilds of Wales for intrepid traveller Gary. And, despite his ordeals, he looks cleaner/pinker than ever!

Yes it was an exciting but also scary time for Gary. I don’t think he’d gave got back in one piece if it wasn’t for Roy.
