Minoru is world’s first consumer 3D webcam

Minoru, your friendly 3D webcamThe Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas saw the unveiling of the world's first consumer 3D webcam, Minoru.

Named after the Japanese word for 'reality', Minoru connects to your PC, the eyes lighting up to look at you and allowing friends and family to see you in 3D over most popular instant messaging programs.

The red and cyan anaglyph image can be seen by using one of the pairs of 3D glasses, available with the webcam, but also works in 2D without the glasses.

It can also capture 3D photos and output 3D videos, which can be uploaded to YouTube.  I like the cute, amusing look of the camera, but retailing at around $100, do you think this is the future of the home use webcam or simply a passing fad?
