Guernsey Gas, in partnership with Sure CW, is sponsoring intrepid Channel Island adventurers Steve Wright and Simon Elmont on their Spring 09 expedition across Greenland - a trip designed to raise awareness of important environmental issues to school children in Alderney, Sark and Guernsey (through interactive experiments, devised by the students themselves), as well as charitable fund raising in aid of Motor Neurone Disease (for full details, visit greenland09.com).
Betley Whitehorne negotiated the sponsorship opportunity on behalf of Gas in recognition of the importance that this trip could have in educating youngsters on the importance of protecting the environment.
"As gas is the most environmentally-friendly heating fuel currently available in the Channel Islands, we wanted to use sponsorship of this important expedition as a way of endorsing the fact, together with highlighting simple ways in which we can all do our bit around the home to save energy", said Chris Betley, from ad agency Betley Whitehorne.
"We've developed a new website for Gas, greenerguernsey.com, to show a range of energy saving tips (also available as a printed booklet, from The Energy Centre, Admiral Park). And we've created a special competition for school children which will hopefully reinforce these green issues and help mould future attitudes and actions towards the environment. The competition details can be found at greenerguernsey.com".
