Stad de Garlando

July 21st, 2008 · Paul · 1 Comment

After the success of the Spring Tournament and The Curry Cup we felt it was time to get serious. After much research we decided to invest in a world class foosball table. We opted for a Garlando Master Champion which is the official ITSF model for the international competitions of the category International, Master Series and Pro Tour. It is a thing of beauty to help inspire (of course!), as well as being silky smooth whilst rock solid to play on.

Betley Whitehorne Launch Guernsey Memory Walk 2008 website

July 18th, 2008 · Georgina · 1 Comment

The Guernsey Memory Walk will take place on Sunday 28th September and Betley Whitehorne has launched the new website, which will feature an online registration facility.

All money raised from the Memory Walk will go to the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Society, the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers, and the Maison Million Appeal, which is raising money in order to provide a local Alzheimer’s care unit.

You can get full details on the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Society, details of the walk, register online and download a sponsorship form on the website.

UPDATE: Well done to all the walkers on Sunday, the event was a great success, aided in part by the Memory Walk website. Over half the people who pre-registered did so via the website:

Betley Whitehorne’s website and the facility to register online enabled us to reach out to new and old friends who contributed to a fantastic day on Sunday. We look forward to building on the success of the website over the coming year. A huge thank you to the team who created the site.

Greenhouse Exhibition: St Peter Port: Past and Present

July 17th, 2008 · Ric · No Comments

Drawing of buildings in St Peter Port

A new exhibition is opening at the greenhouse gallery later this month entitled St Peter Port: past and present.

Showing for the first time in public, drawings with watercolour washes of three streets in St Peter Port. These townscapes from the 1970’s, were commissioned by the Environment Department and were drawn by Robert Reed (while he was attending the Central School of Art in London). They capture a moment in history and, alongside these long landscape drawings, we plan to show photographs pf some of the same detail as they are now.

The exhibition runs from 25th July — 11th September 2008.

July 8th, 2008 · Ric · No Comments

I love type and typography but have terrible handwriting, it’s so bad I’m ashamed of it. But after finding an article on the handwriting of typographers I don’t feel so bad, some of them have bad writing too. It’s an interesting read and you can see similarity in some typographers’ creations and their handwriting.

Faceless figures baffle bloggers

July 4th, 2008 · Georgina · No Comments

Two literally faceless figures have been appearing in the crowds of some of the most high profile events of the summer, perplexing the public and creating a furore of theories ranging from publicity stunt to performance art to Scientology amongst the Internet’s blogging community.

The anonymous pair cause a stir at Wimbledon

The pair, a man and a woman, have been sitting almost motionless amongst the crowds at a variety of A-list events, including Wimbledon, Henley Regatta and Elton John’s White Tie and Diamonds Ball, with their facial features almost completely obscured by a thin, flesh-coloured membrane.  The masks apparently have tiny perforations around the nose and mouth area, so that the wearers are able to breathe.
