Typographical Doener Kebab!

May 13th, 2008 · Ric · No Comments

An interesting, if slightly bizarre concept, the Literary Doener Kebab lets you explore German book publisher Reclam's catalogue in an easily digestible manner.

Quotes from the books are displayed in a three dimensional cone - built with the Java based Processing language - that sort of resembles a Doener Kebab in shape. Users can then explore by clicking on quotes to save them, get more details on the author, buy the book etc. The idea being they are bite sized bits of 'rich brainfood' for the 'youtube generation'.

It's certainly an original idea but I'm not sure how effective it'll be at selling books - although I can't read German maybe I'm missing something. However it is good to see original and dynamic typography on the web.
