A new photographic exhibition entitled ‘Eye to Eye’ opens soon at the greenhouse gallery.
Phil Sayer’s exhibition ‘Eye to Eye’ focuses on well-known artists, architects and designers of our time photographed in their studios or workspaces. This has been a recurring theme for Sayer’s work and many of the works on show have been private commissions by the artists, architects or designers themselves or by those who have commissioned work by them. The portraits include those of Vivienne Westwood, Antony Gormley, David Hockney, Paul Smith, Mary Quant and Norman Foster.
Working as a freelance photographer since 1969, Sayer has contributed to many prestigous magazines and books as well as working extensively for international corporations and graphic design consultancies. He also helped found ‘Blueprint Magazine’ in 1984 together with a small collective of journalists and designers. He has undertaken commissions from leading art galleries, museums and arts organisations including the National Gallery, Crafts Council, V&A, British Museum and the Royal Academy.
The exhibition runs from 14th February - 27th March 2008.
Phil Sayer will be giving a public lecture focusing on an overview of his work to date on Tuesday 12th February 2008 - 7.00pm - 8.30pm at the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery, Candie Gardens
