The Optimus Maximus keyboard by Art Lebedev Studio is a gorgeous, and very cool bit industrial design all the way from Russia.
I’ve been following the progress of the keyboard for a while now, and it’s finally shipped, but with a price tag of about £270 I’m not sure I can justify the expense however next time I’m in Russia I’ll see if I can get hold of one, it’ll be cheaper than spending $2,750 like one ebay bidder did!

Have you ever wanted to record your dreams? Or have a cool little humanoid robot? Then the Sleep Waking robot by Fernando Orellana and Brendan Burns is for you. Amazing to watch, I love the precise yet elegant movement, which is remenisant of a mime artist, or contemporary dancer, and the little bench it has to sit on adds a nice human quality. Currently it doesn’t play back accurate representations of dreams but it still has a dreamlike quality to the movement, not something you expect from a robot. Be sure to watch the video below.

Yesterday I launched the new International Artist In Residence website. It was designed along with Eric Snell, the director of the programme. Eric is a former tutor of mine as I used to attend the Grange House Art & Design college of which the IAIRP is part. He approached me asking if I would be able to make the new site for them, I agreed, and after much planning, and the selection of difference ideas and designs we came up with a solution we were both happy with.
The website helps to bring attention to the programme which gives a unique opportunity to students in the island by allowing them to see artists at work in the studio. Read more

The Readerswives Collective have just moved into their new headquarters, The Centrefold Gallery. To celebrate they are putting on a two week exhibition called ‘Paperview — the more you buy the more you see’. The work on display is from many great local artists including Choobi, Ster, Rostone, Decal, Melon, Kitten Soft and Vinyl Matt.
All the framed pieces on display are selling at a drop down bargain price of ten earth pounds. As each piece is brought and taken down a collaborative wall painting is revealed like a reverse jigsaw. Read more

Ever wondered what it would be like to have a popstars face, hand or eyes? If not I’m sure you will do after seeing these vinyl heads. These are just a couple of pictures of the latest fad/craze/in-thing to be sweeping the internet. All you require is a model, camera and a back catalogue of front-on big face vinyl.
Whilst wearing similar clothes to the artist in question take your twelve inch sleeve and move it inline and in proportion with your body. You can then strike a pose that you think the artist was probably doing or take on a highly unlikely or comical position, then just click away.

In a world competing for your attention it’s great to see Coca-Cola removing the clutter from their new cans and going back to basics. The result is a retro looking can but with a modern flavour which I think will look great on the shelves. Gone are the ghosts of ribbons past, drop shadows and bubbles leaving a cleaner, fresher look.

Whilst at university in Bristol I stumbled across a little art and design shop called Soma. It had a wonderful range of books, magazine and design trinkets. But what caught my eye most was the wide selection of prints, my personal favourites were by designer Anthony Burrill.
These two are made using woodblock lettering which gives them a unique quality to each edition. The poster statements themselves are taken from conversations he has overheard. They both provoke totally different idea of the people who have said them.
